2014 Volkswagen celebrates the 40th anniversary of the “new class” that began with the Passat, Scirocco and Golf with continued and finally completed with the Polo. The first production Golf – the more than 30 million copies followed in seven generations – ran on 29 March 1974 by band. The exhibition is dedicated to the Golf I, which was manufactured in South Africa under the name Citi Golf until 2009.
The Auto Museum Volkswagen shows in this unique exhibition various exhibits, which are partially is on loan and have never been seen in this form and composition – including surprises. Among them: the two most oldest existing golf I, an electric version, a Porsche in golf garb, an early pre-production Golf 1973 with sliding door and various experimental versions.
